Authorities have identified the cause of a blast that rocked a Perth medical centre and was heard up to a kilometre away.
The Dunedin Street Medical Centre in Mount Hawthorn suffered major damage after a fire tore through the clinic about 4.15am Monday.

Flames were brought under control within 30 minutes, but not before an oxygen cylinder exploded, sending glass and debris flying across the road.
Pictures from the scene showed bricks, windows, chairs, shelves and other equipment strewn across the floor.
The facility’s ceiling and roof were also badly damaged in the incident.

Witnesses said the sound of the blast was heard up to a kilometre away.
“It sounded like a bomb and the sky just went bright orange, as if something exploded,” one witness told 7NEWS.
“It was very loud. It shook everything.”

A doctor who has practised at the clinic for over 40 years told 7NEWS she was devastated by what happened but relieved no one was injured.
The fire was reportedly sparked by an electrical fault.
