Coldplay has thrilled their fans after announcing free tickets for some very lucky people.

These heartbroken fans travelling interstate from Adelaide and Brisbane missed out on seeing Coldplay live.

“We were really sorry to hear about the fans who didn’t make it to this weekend’s Perth shows because of two cancelled flights from Adelaide and Brisbane,” the band tweeted.

“If you were booked to travel on VA721 on Wednesday evening or VA474 on Thursday evening and had a ticket/tickets for the Perth show, the band would like to offer you a free ticket/tickets for the 2024 Australian dates.

“Anyone affected should email info@livenation.com.au before 5pm AEDT on November 28 for info on how to claim their ticket.”

Coldplay followers praised the “thoughtful gesture”.

“You guys are really kind, I love Coldplay,” the top comment read.

“Admirable move, Coldplay! This kind of support and consideration sets a wonderful example of how artists can connect with their fans on a deeper level!” another said.

Another person said: “Nothing says welcome to Australia like a flight cancellation. Good on you for giving these people free tickets.”

The band on Monday announced the extension of the Australian leg of their Music Of The Spheres world tour, returning to perform across October and November 2024.

Fans can already register now via Coldplay.com for the presale, which will kick off at 10am AEDT on Wednesday, November 29.

General ticket sale begins on Friday, December 1 at 10am AEDT.

The news follows backlash over the initial announcement the tour would only come to Perth, where they performed two shows at the weekend.

The band has not performed in Sydney or Melbourne since November 2016.

On that tour, the band performed five concerts in three states, NSW, Queensland and Victoria — with Western Australia missing out.

Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres world tour has sold more than six million tickets since it launched early in 2022.
