A man aged in his 40s was also discovered in the same room by attending officers.

Police said he had sustained “serious self-inflicted injuries”.

“The man was taken into custody and is currently receiving medical treatment,” a police spokesperson said.

Police believe both parties are known to each other but what transpired behind closed doors will form part of an investigation.

Homicide Squad detectives are probing the serious incident and spent the afternoon gathering evidence.

“Enquiries in relation to the circumstances surrounding the death remain ongoing,” the police spokesperson said.

7NEWS pictures showed several police cars and multiple St John ambulances parked outside the hotel’s lobby entry earlier today. The loading dock was also buzzing with police officers.

A spokesperson for Crown Resorts confirmed police responded to an incident at the busy precinct.

“Our team are assisting WA Police with their investigation, and we are supporting our team members,” they said.

The $650 million Crown Towers includes 500 guest rooms and villas and was opened in 2016.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
