One of the victims of the horrific weekend on WA roads has been revealed as a beloved family member and committed volunteer.

Joshua Hair was a passenger in a Toyota HiLux that was travelling on Karijini Dr in Karijini, about 70km east of Tom Price in the state’s Pilbara region, when it left the road and rolled about 6.30am on Sunday.

Hair, 19, could not be saved and died at the scene.

The vehicle’s 21-year-old male driver and another 18-year-old passenger were taken to hospital by St John WA.

“Forever 19. Fly high Joshua Hair. We love you so very much,” his brother Jacob shared on social media.

His devastated family said Hair was loved and would be “greatly missed”.

“For anyone that knew him, he was a fun, goofy and free-spirited man who enjoyed life to the fullest. He didn’t stress the big things and was always going with the flow,” loved ones said in a statement.

“His smile lit the room up and was enough to turn any bad day good again. He was very hard-working and committed in everything he did.

“We will forever carry his legacy, memories and spirit with us to the end of our days.

“We will live harder now than ever, so he can live life through us.”

The Tom Price Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade revealed they were mourning the loss of “one of our own”.

“Joshua was a committed and vibrant member of our brigade,” the unit shared.

“His eagerness to learn and serve the community will be sadly missed.

“To Wayne, Angie and family, please know you are in our thoughts and the shed is always open.”

“RIP young man.”

Investigators have appealed for information into the fatal rollover, which was one of several tragic crashes over the Father’s Day weekend.

With six people killed, police described it as one of the worst 48-hour periods on WA roads in recent memory, with investigators also probing crashes in Fortescue, Ravenswood and Boxwood Hill.

“With the number of fatalities and serious crashes over the weekend, it has stretched our resources,” Major Crash officer-in-charge Adam Matson said on Monday.

“However, we have got sections we can rely upon as well as those areas where the crashes have occurred. They are obviously the first responders to it.”
