New details have emerged after a 16-year-old boy was killed when the car he was a passenger in veered off the road and smashed into a tree on a WA road.

Ryan Berry was a passenger in the vehicle when it crashed at the intersection of Yanchep Beach Rd and Parkland Dr in the coastal Perth suburb of Yanchep at 9.40pm on Tuesday.

Residents say they heard a car revving before the ute crashed into the tree.

Flowers have since been laid there in his memory.

His friend, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and the driver, a 16-year-old boy, suffered a minor injury.

Dozens of grieving loved ones visited the site on Wednesday to lay flowers and carve tributes to Berry.

“I’m shocked,” one friend told 7NEWS at the site.

Ryan’s friends said they didn’t believe the news at first.

“It wasn’t true,” one said.

“Ryan was literally like my best friend and my brother in one,” said another.

“He was just family to all of us and such a nice guy,” another friend said.

WA Police said officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section attended the scene of the crash, and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Anyone with any information about the crash has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
