The 25-year-old male driver and 24-year-old female passenger of the campervan were airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

Police are also investigating a fatal crash in Grass Valley near Northam, about 110km northeast of Perth, on Saturday evening.

A black Jeep Cherokee was destroyed by fire after leaving the road and crashing into a tree on Clydesdale Rd about 11.20pm, police said.

Police are yet to reveal details of the driver, saying only that they died at the scene.

Major Crash officers are investigating both fatal smashes and have called for anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact authorities.

There have been 131 deaths on WA roads in 2023, with 63 fatalities in regional areas.

Sixty-eight deaths have occurred on metropolitan roads, according to state government figures.
